Postdoctoral researcher

Project
PREP0003307
Overview

Researcher will develop a thermometer based on atomic fluorescence intensity ratios. This research
project will explore several novel and high-risk techniques for realizing a primary temperature
sensor in a compact package. This will require operating an locking multiple lasers to atomic
transitions, fiber optic design and operation, multilevel rate equation simulations, and careful
characterization of systematic effects.

Postdoctoral Researcher

Qualifications
  • PhD in Physics or a related field
  • Experience is required in two or more of the following areas:
        - frequency stabilization of laser systems
        - Python programming
        - temperature metrology
        - modeling population dynamics with a set of coupled rate equations
Research Proposal

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform experimental tasks toward realizing a primary thermometer base on rubidium atoms
  • Data analysis
  • Disseminating project results via peer-reviewed publications and public presentations
