Overview
The candidate will use their expertise to support gage block and other dimensional calibration services
at NIST. This will require the candidate to maintain NIST dimensional reference masters, and when
appropriate perform measurements for internal research efforts.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s of Science in Science or Engineering
- 11 months of relevant experience
- Familiarity with NIST’s gage block calibrations methods and procedures
- Familiarity with NIST’s quality system requirements
- US Citizen preferred
Research Proposal
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Opening, cleaning and distributing customer gages to NIST technical professionals for
calibration. - Performing measurements of NIST reference gage blocks masters and comparing them to
historical measurements, under supervision. - Acquire, calibrate and place into service, with supervision, reference gage block masters.
- Learn and perform gage block measurements using optical interferometry.
